Accuracy counts hits; the score runs on the streak multiplier, which resets to one the moment a single perfect chain breaks. One dropped beat in the middle of a run costs more points than several sloppy-but-connected hits, so protecting the streak matters more than raw hit rate.
Should I react to what I see coming or trust the music?
The music. Obstacles arrive on the beat, and by the time the track speeds up, visual reaction is a few frames too slow — taps that feel slightly early by eye tend to land as perfects. Playing with sound off removes the timing reference the whole game is built around.
