About Hop Hop

Hop Hop keeps its control scheme to three taps and lets the pacing do the rest of the work: tapping the screen sends your animal jumping forward on its own, while tapping left or right steers it around rising lava and toward the coins scattered along the path. There's no separate stop button and no way to pause the forward hopping, so every left-or-right tap is really a mid-air correction rather than a planned move, made harder by the game speeding up the longer a run lasts. Coins collected during a run aren't just a score number either — they're meant to be spent on unlocking something afterward, which gives an otherwise pure survival loop a reason to backtrack for the ones you skipped.

Hop Hop FAQ

Can I stop my animal from jumping forward, or just steer it?

You can't stop the forward hopping — tapping the screen makes your animal jump automatically, and the left and right taps only steer where it lands, not whether it moves. That's why late-run mistakes tend to be steering errors made under time pressure rather than jumps you chose to make too early.

What are the coins actually for, beyond adding to my score?

They are meant to be spent on unlocking things after a run rather than just counting toward a high score, which is why grabbing a coin that is slightly off your safest path can be worth the risk. Since the game speeds up the longer you survive, coins collected early in a run are generally easier to reach than the ones you will see later.

How do you play Hop Hop?

Tap the screen to make your animal jump forward automatically. Tap left or right to steer around the rising lava. Grab coins along the path as you jump — they add up for later. Keep jumping as long as you can; the pace speeds up the longer you survive.

Is Hop Hop free to play?

Yes. Hop Hop is free to play in your browser on BreakArcade. There is no purchase, no subscription and no account required - open the page and press Play.

Do I need to download Hop Hop?

No. Hop Hop is an HTML5 game that runs inside your browser tab. Nothing is installed on your device, and closing the tab ends the session.

Can I play Hop Hop on a school Chromebook?

Hop Hop runs on any device with a modern browser, including low-powered school Chromebooks, because it loads in the browser rather than installing. Whether it opens depends on your network - some schools block the game host, which is outside our control.
