Shapes arrive in a tray at the bottom, the board is a fixed grid, and a row or column vanishes the moment you fill it completely. Nothing is timed, which sounds generous until you notice there is no way to skip a shape you cannot use — the run ends when the pieces in front of you have nowhere left to go. The leaf and flame icons printed on the blocks are decoration and play no part in matching, so read the silhouettes and ignore the artwork. Scattered single-tile holes are what kills most boards, not running out of room.

Do the leaf and flame symbols on the blocks affect matching?
No — they are pure decoration, and lines clear on position alone regardless of which icons the tiles carry. New players sometimes hold a piece back waiting to group matching symbols, which wastes exactly the board space the game is actually testing you on.
Why did my run end while the board still had plenty of open space?
Open space in the wrong shapes is the same as no space. A scattered spread of single-tile and two-tile holes cannot host a three-by-three or an L-piece, so the run dies on geometry rather than area. Keeping your empty space in one connected region is worth more than keeping lots of it.
