About ReefRescue

Clicking lifts you through the water and gravity pulls you back down, which is a familiar loop borrowed from the flapping genre and moved underwater. The change of medium matters more than it sounds: the sinking is slower and gentler than a fall through air, so corrections are possible in a way they are not in the games this takes after, and passages that would be lethal above water are merely tight here. Sea creatures and obstacles fill the route. It is forgiving by the standards of its format.

ReefRescue FAQ

How is this different from the usual flapping games?

Sinking underwater is much slower than falling through air, so you have time to correct a bad position instead of committing to it. That makes tight passages recoverable and the whole thing noticeably gentler than the format usually is.

How do you play ReefRescue?

Click or tap to rise through the water. Stop clicking to sink gently. Make small corrections rather than one large lift. Use the slower sink rate to line up before a narrow gap.

Is ReefRescue free to play?

Yes. ReefRescue is free to play in your browser on BreakArcade. There is no purchase, no subscription and no account required - open the page and press Play.

Do I need to download ReefRescue?

No. ReefRescue is an HTML5 game that runs inside your browser tab. Nothing is installed on your device, and closing the tab ends the session.

Can I play ReefRescue on a school Chromebook?

ReefRescue runs on any device with a modern browser, including low-powered school Chromebooks, because it loads in the browser rather than installing. Whether it opens depends on your network - some schools block the game host, which is outside our control.
