Everything on screen is drawn as glowing vector outlines — your ship, the enemy formations, the shots crossing between them — which keeps a very busy screen readable when several waves overlap. There is no campaign structure to fall back on; the run continues until you are hit, and the score is the only thing carried out of it. Pickups dropped by destroyed enemies are worth chasing but usually sit somewhere awkward, so collecting one is a decision about whether you can afford to leave your current line. Waves arrive faster than they clear, which is what eventually ends every attempt.
