A blade follows the cursor and anything it crosses comes apart. Fruit gets thrown up in overlapping arcs, which is why the scoring stroke is the one catching three or four pieces in a single sweep instead of picking them off individually. Bombs go up in those same arcs and end the run on contact, so the temptation to keep the blade moving is precisely what is being punished. Long diagonal strokes cover more screen than short flicks, and pausing while the arcs cross costs nothing — nothing falls fast enough to reward panic.
