About In Space

Alien swarms close in from every edge of the screen in this top-down survival shooter, and the camera never lets you forget how outnumbered a single soldier is. You hold position with futuristic weaponry while waves arrive in tighter and tighter formations, and the enemies themselves change over the course of a run rather than simply multiplying. Between waves you spend what you have earned on upgrades, which is the only reason later swarms stay survivable at all. The appeal is the arithmetic of it: how much firepower you can bank early against how long you can stay alive without it.

In Space FAQ

Does In Space have an end, or is it endless?

It is built around outlasting evolving waves rather than reaching a final stage, so a run ends when you do. Progress is measured by how deep into the escalating swarms your upgrades carry you.

How do you play In Space?

Move your soldier around the 2D playfield to keep space between yourself and the closing swarm. Fire continuously at the nearest cluster — letting a group reach you is usually what ends a run. Spend earned resources on weapon and survivability upgrades before the next wave arrives. Learn each new enemy type as it appears; later waves mix them rather than replacing the old ones.

Is In Space free to play?

Yes. In Space is free to play in your browser on BreakArcade. There is no purchase, no subscription and no account required - open the page and press Play.

Do I need to download In Space?

No. In Space is an HTML5 game that runs inside your browser tab. Nothing is installed on your device, and closing the tab ends the session.

Can I play In Space on a school Chromebook?

In Space runs on any device with a modern browser, including low-powered school Chromebooks, because it loads in the browser rather than installing. Whether it opens depends on your network - some schools block the game host, which is outside our control.
