About Gunman

Dragging backwards sets both angle and power in one motion, which puts this in the artillery-duel tradition rather than the run-and-gun one its name suggests. Turns alternate, and on yours you can also switch weapons or raise a magical shield from the bar along the bottom before committing to a shot. The shield decision is where most matches turn, since spending your turn defending gives up the exchange but survives a shot you could not otherwise take. Power and angle being bound to a single drag makes small corrections between turns awkward in a way that is clearly deliberate.

Gunman FAQ

Is it worth spending a turn on a shield?

When the incoming shot would end you, yes, since a turn spent alive beats a turn spent trading. The cost is real though: shielding gives your opponent a free exchange, so doing it too early hands over an advantage you have to win back.

How do you play Gunman?

Click or tap and drag backwards to set your angle and power together. Release to fire. Tap the icons in the bottom bar to switch weapons during your turn. Raise a shield instead of firing when you cannot survive the next shot.

Is Gunman free to play?

Yes. Gunman is free to play in your browser on BreakArcade. There is no purchase, no subscription and no account required - open the page and press Play.

Do I need to download Gunman?

No. Gunman is an HTML5 game that runs inside your browser tab. Nothing is installed on your device, and closing the tab ends the session.

Can I play Gunman on a school Chromebook?

Gunman runs on any device with a modern browser, including low-powered school Chromebooks, because it loads in the browser rather than installing. Whether it opens depends on your network - some schools block the game host, which is outside our control.
