The mower does the drawing here. A flag hangs over the field as the reference, and the pale strips you cut into the long grass are what has to end up matching it, so the picture is made from the paths you take rather than from anything you place. Skipping a patch leaves a tuft standing in the middle of a stripe. Covering the same ground twice costs time and adds nothing. Steering is the awkward part, because the machine holds its heading until you turn it, and tight corners need the turn started early. It plays closer to route planning than to driving.
