About Dead Paradise
Two things happen at once in Dead Paradise and the tension between them is the whole game: the arrow keys drive a car forward through hostile terrain while X launches missiles and Z swings the firing angle. Driving fast gets you through the level; slowing down gets you clean shots. You cannot fully do both, and space-bar nitro tempts you into exactly the wrong decision at exactly the wrong moment. Adjusting fire direction with Z while steering with the same hand region is genuinely awkward at first, which is a design flaw and also the source of most of the difficulty. Runs go badly when you treat it as a racing game and forget the shooting half is what clears the road ahead.
How to Play
- Press the Up arrow to accelerate and the Down arrow to slow down
- Press X to launch missiles at obstacles and enemy vehicles
- Use Z to adjust the firing direction before shooting
- Hit Space for a nitro boost, but only once the road ahead is clear

Should I be driving fast or shooting carefully?
Shooting, most of the time. Speed only helps once the road ahead is actually clear, and the missiles are what clear it. Players who treat this as a race die to obstacles they drove past instead of destroying.
When is the nitro boost worth using?
Right after you have cleared a stretch with missiles, never before. Nitro removes your ability to react, so firing it into an unhandled section just carries you into whatever you had not shot yet.
