About DotDrift

Two chains of coloured dots meet at right angles, one horizontal and one moving vertically, and you match the leading dot of yours against the passing one when the colours agree. Timing is the whole game, since the vertical chain does not wait and a mistimed match costs one of the three hearts shown in the corner. The neon presentation is busier than the mechanic warrants, which makes reading the next colour in the chain harder than it needs to be, though that ends up functioning as part of the difficulty.

DotDrift FAQ

What exactly costs me a heart?

Matching when the colours do not agree, or letting the moment pass entirely. Both count against you, so hesitating is not a safe option here in the way it is in most matching games.

How do you play DotDrift?

Watch the leading dot of your horizontal chain. Match it against the moving vertical chain when the colours agree. Time the press to the moving chain rather than to your own. Track your three hearts, since mistimed matches cost them.

Is DotDrift free to play?

Yes. DotDrift is free to play in your browser on BreakArcade. There is no purchase, no subscription and no account required - open the page and press Play.

Do I need to download DotDrift?

No. DotDrift is an HTML5 game that runs inside your browser tab. Nothing is installed on your device, and closing the tab ends the session.

Can I play DotDrift on a school Chromebook?

DotDrift runs on any device with a modern browser, including low-powered school Chromebooks, because it loads in the browser rather than installing. Whether it opens depends on your network - some schools block the game host, which is outside our control.
